Enchanted Banquet
The Enchanted Banquet appears as result 1 on the Abyss Special Feature table (d6). The room contains a sumptuously laid table of magical food and drink.
Deciding to Eat
You must decide whether to eat before reading the outcomes. Each character who eats rolls separately on the table below.
Enchanted Banquet Table (d6)
| Roll | Effect | |---|---| | 1 | Magical Food. Heal 3 life. A fey creature then steals d6×d6 gp or the single most valuable magic item/gem/jewelry you carry. If you carry nothing valuable, magical bells appear on your body — they chime with every movement, triggering wandering monsters on a 1–3 (not just 1) until a Blessing spell removes them. | | 2 | Nourishing Food. Heal 1 life. | | 3 | Spoiled Lamb. Save vs level 7 poison (halflings add +L; barbarians +1). On failure: −1 to attack rolls for the next two encounters. | | 4 | Ghost Food. The food vanishes; the character is tormented by visions of the dead. Save vs level 6 magic (wizards and clerics add +½L) or gain 1 Madness point. | | 5 | That's My Food! A two-headed ogre bursts in (level 7 boss, 6 life, 2 attacks, each inflicting 2 wounds), attacks first, and targets the character who rolled this result. Fights to the death. Carries silverware worth 100 gp. (Only one ogre per dungeon — reroll if rolled again.) | | 6 | Fey Food. Gain the ability to cast one random spell from the base-game random spell table — once. Barbarians are immune to this effect and gain nothing. |
Tips
- Result 1 is high-risk/high-reward: 3 healing is significant, but losing your best magic item can be crippling.
- Result 5 is the most dangerous — the ogre's 2-wound hits can one-shot a weakened character.
- A cleric with a Blessing ready can clear the bells from result 1 immediately.
- Barbarians cannot benefit from result 6 but still risk results 3, 4, and 5.
